Eco-explore provides a range of wildlife training opportunities throughout the year. Contact us if you are interested in any of the following formats, or if you would like to discuss other training options.

Undergraduate Training Events

In partnership with the Cardiff University Bird Club, and Wildsoc, Eco-explore offers extra-curricular training opportunities for undergraduates, including Phase 1 habitat surveys, bat detecting, bird identification, invertebrate sampling, moth trapping, and ecological impact assessment. Email us for further details.

Professional Training Year Placements

We host undergraduate training year placements combining ecological training on a range of topics, with an in-depth research project of your choosing. Recent projects have included:

  • Habitat selection and conservation of bats
  • Impacts of pheasant farming on farmland birds
  • Behaviour and ecology of owls
  • Impacts of climate change on reedbed ecosystems

Email us if you are interested in arranging a placement.

School Work Experience

We can arrange work experience placements (typically 1-5 days) for school and college students, in association with Cardiff University and the Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour. Email us for further details.

National Science Week Activities

The Eco-explore team is actively involved in hosting school groups at Cardiff School of Biosciences as part of National Science Week, each March/April. Email us if you would like your school to join in!

School Visits and Educational Resources

We regularly visit schools to give lessons, lead walks, and enthuse about wildlife. Email us if you would like to arrange a visit. We also produce a range of our own educational resources and promote the education resources of the Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour
